Writing and Reading Faculty Resources - Northwest
Hello Faculty!
We're ready to get creative to help support you and your students, so if you're interested in partnering with us, please email the Writing Center (NW.WritingHelp@tccd.edu) to start the conversation.
We can create virtual options for most, if not all, of our traditional face-to-face services.
Please review our NW WC Faculty FAQ Links to an external site. for information about how you'll be notified of student visits, how to best prepare your students for meeting with us, and ways that the NW ALC can support you and your students.

Embedded Tutoring
Embedded Tutoring is a program that partners a Writing Center tutor with a certain course for the entire term. The tutor is able to build rapport with the students in that course, become familiar with the professor's teaching style and the assignments in the class, and support students in writing during class time.
The NW Writing Center has several options for providing embedded tutoring in online and in-person environments. The options below allow for interaction between the tutor and the students in a variety of ways.
Each of our embedded tutoring arrangements is a little different depending on the faculty member's teaching style, course calendar, etc. Let's work together to determine what would work best for your course!
Some of the activities that are often included in embedded tutoring are:
- Class observations to give your assigned tutor a glimpse into your expectations and assignment instructions
- Floating tutoring support during drafting days
- Group conferences, which are like facilitated peer reviews with modeling from the tutor
In-Class Workshops
We're happy to conduct any of the workshops on our menu during your class time. Please note, an instructor must be present during a workshop, so this option can not replace the need for a sub on a day when you can't make it.
Orientations
We offer orientations for classes by faculty request. Have a tutor come to your class and share information about our services! Email kelly.mogk@tccd.edu to schedule an orientation.
Please let us know if you would like customized orientation materials for your course. We are happy to record an informational video, tailor a flyer, and more.
