I am working part-time at Tarrant County College as an Instructional Assistant and self-employed as a Deaf Interpreter in various settings, especially Medical. I have attended several workshops, developing my professional skills in the area of Deaf interpreting and looking to expand my services and contacts. Specialties:  Doing tours at AT&T Stadium, The Star in Frisco (Dallas Cowboys) and Globe Life Field (Texas Rangers) in American Sign Language (ASL) for the Deaf community or anyone who appreciate the beauty of ASL! Fluent in American Sign Language.

I have been a full-time Instructional Assistant with the ASL/Interpreting Learn Center since 2014. I specialize in tutoring students in sign language and helping them to achieve their goals. I have a lot of positive and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard in school and succeed. In my free time, I like to cook and explore adventures.

Sammie Sheppard

Sign Language Interpreting Program Director

Though I am currently the Sign Language Interpreting Program Director, I started as a student in the program many years ago. I hold a MA Teaching American Sign Language from the University of Northern Colorado, and have been a professional ASL/English Interpreter since 1984. I hold a BEI Master and Court Interpreter Certification as well as the RID Certification of Transliteration. I began teaching in with the program in 1992 and in my current position since Fall 2013. When not at work, I enjoy family time, gardening, hiking, and anything on the water.

I have been with the TCC Sign Language Interpreting Program since Fall 2006 as an Instructional Assistant in the ASL/Interpreting Learn Center. I graduated from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in 1977. I really love helping students develop their use of facial expression and sign language. I also enjoy riding my bike.
