Introduction and Orientation
Hello all,
Welcome to our course for FALL 2021 - 8 week. Let me introduce myself, my name is Mrs. Javaun Price, and I will be your professor for HRPO 2307 – Organizational Behavior. I prefer you call me Mrs. Price or Mrs. J, based on your comfortability. You can find out more information about me, such as how to contact me, in the Faculty Profile/Contact Information area of our class site. Our course will be conducted online beginning Monday, October 18, 2021. As we prepare for class, I would like to provide you with information on how we will conduct the course this semester. All students must complete an orientation for each course in which they are enrolled. It is designed to familiarize you with our class and how to navigate.
- Online Instruction will be through the Canvas system using OER course materials which have been provided. As a student you will be able to log into Canvas anytime during each week to complete your assignments. As you get started read all the links on the left side of the Canvas page. (This page will be available to you on the first day of class).
- eBook– Your book materials have been provided to you online. There is no book purchase necessary. The eBook will provide all your readings, PowerPoints, and ability to complete your assignments, quizzes/exams, project, and other study tools and course resources. There are multiple resources online which I encourage you to do though they are not assigned. These Readings and Growth Exercises will expand your knowledge of the content of our course.
- Course Operation: This is an online There will be no face-to-face meetings, nor are you required to attend any live sessions during the semester. However, I will conduct an online orientation during the first week of school on Wednesday, October 20th from 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm using Teams. A link will be provided in the announcements. If you are unable to attend the live session you can listen to the recording that will be posted later that day. Any live sessions or any information I feel will help you be successful in the course will be recorded and posted in the online classroom. You are not required to attend; this will give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
- Lesson Completion- For each lesson you will have a list of tasks to complete. Course work begins each Sunday and is due by 11:59 pm on Saturday as detailed in Course Organizer. It will be important to begin early each week so that you have plenty of time to complete all assigned tasks. Each lesson will have a module folder, you will find the readings materials, assignments, or discussions due for that lesson. All readings will come from the eBook assigned to the course. Assignments/Activities are where the action is required. These will be turned in and graded weekly to satisfy the requirements of the course. Due dates are non-negotiable, so please review the Course Organizer to ensure you are aware of due dates and deadlines.
- Attendance will be taken on weekly and is based on completion of the work assigned for that week. Work begins each Sunday, and it due by 11:59 pm on Saturday. You should start your assignments early each week and balance your time to be able to complete all assignments well before they are due. All work (Assignments, Discussions, Projects, Exams) must be completed by the assigned due date and times. Please be sure you download the course organizer to stay on track with the course. All assignments are due by the due date. No assignments will be accepted late. If you have an emergency, please contact your professor immediately to make arrangements to complete the assignments in a timely manner. I will use weekly announcements and assignment alerts to keep you actively engaged.
- Grading– grading will be conducted as the lesson unit ends. Grading criteria will be provided for each assignment. Please allow time to see updates in the gradebook. Please see the course ICR for all grading requirements.
CRITERIA
All grades will be kept in Canvas. Please verify your grades are correct. You are responsible to know your grade.
Each assessment is worth a maximum:
30% - 3/4 Assignments 30% - 4/4 Discussions 40% - 3/4 Exams, 1 Project = 100%
Your grade will be determined as follows:
Grade Legend A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 F = 0-59
Note: Your instructor reserves the right to make changes in this grading and completion schedule during the semester as she deems necessary.
- Office Hours- Office hours will be posted in the ICR and Canvas course room. Office hours will be used to assist you with any questions, by email, phone call, text, etc. I will return all emails/calls/texts within 24-48 hours Monday – Thursday. Emails sent Friday – Sunday, will have a delayed response. You are welcome to contact me at any time. Use the In-box in Canvas to send me messages.
