How to Start a Student Organization!

 

     

Instructions for becoming a recognized student organization.

STEP 1

FIND YOUR PEOPLE

You will need:

One president

One senator to attend SGA senate meetings (one per month)

Three additional members (for a total of five)

At least one full-time faculty or staff sponsor (you can have more than one)

STEP 2

CREATE A CONSTITUTION

SAMPLE CONSTITUTIONS

You will need to decide on a constitution. You can either create your own or use the one we have provided for you. You will need to edit it with your organization name and mission statement. 

STEP 3

APPLICATION PROCESS

SUBMIT APPLICATION

The application process has three parts:

  1. Submit an online application.
  2. Members, officers, and sponsors must complete risk management training.
  3. Sponsors and officers must attend mandatory RSO training in the fall and a refresher training is offered in the spring. Training is also available for sponsors in the Learn Center.

All three of these requirements must be met by the deadline- Fall, October 1; Spring March 1.
